Take the main photos from an angle, if possible. That usually results in a more interesting picture than a "head-on" shot.
It generally works best to take the photos when the sun is shining toward the house (sun behind the photographer). The light helps show details & can create interesting shadows.
It really helps if you send me LOTS of photos of the details of your home: siding, trim, shingles, windows, lights, railings, brick patterns, landscaping, etc. The more photos I have to draw from, the more accurately (and interestingly) I can portray your home.
Following are examples of photographs that may have helped me with the details, and some might have been o.k. for the "main" photo, but they wouldn't have been my first choice.

Finally, don't stress out about the photos. You know your home better than anyone, and you don't need to be a professional photographer to achieve good results. I have lots of experience, and I'm flexible about working with whatever pictures are provided to me. Back
